Pro Tip: Test your CYA stabiliser level. Too much cyanuric acid can cause chlorine lock and hinder results. Ideal range is below 50ppm. If CYA is higher than 50ppm dilute the water until the level reduces.
Pro Tip: For best results, lower pH to 7.2 and then shock dose your pool with 10ppm of chlorine before use.
Pro Tip: For green pools and recurrent algae problems, you may need to shock dose with chlorine more than once to maintain enough sanitising power to clear all the nasties.
Prepare the pool.
No matter what state your pool is in, a little preparation work goes a long way to achieving results. Doing the following ensures you get the absolute best results.
- Remove leaves/debris.
- Backwash or clean filter.
- Leave pump running.
- Brush down the pool surfaces.
- Lower pH to 7.2.
- Shock dose with chlorine.

Calculate the correct dose for your pool. Weigh out the correct amount and dissolve in a bucket of clean water. Pour prepared solution into pool via skimmer.
